This recipe is a simple fried banana snack that you can cook anytime. This is prepared by making a batter made from flour, egg, milk and sugar. Then the saba bananas are dipped in the batter before frying. This snack is commonly called “maruya” and it is usually sold by street food vendors that also sell ukoy or fried lumpia.
How to Cook Saba Banana Fritters (Maruya)
Ingredients
- 10 pcs saba bananas
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 4 Tbsp. milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 egg beaten
- Cooking oil for frying
Instructions
How to make Saba Fritters:
- To prepare the batter, combine flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, milk and water in a bowl. Mix well.
- Add egg. Mix until the batter is smooth. Set aside.
- Peel the bananas. Slice lengthwise. Then dip in batter before frying.
- Fry until golden brown then transfer to paper towels or colander to drain excess oil.
